HAS INTERNAL REGULATED POWER SUPPLY
FREQUENCY STANDARD
BUILT IN 1942
Acquired in September 2002. Front panel, calibration book, battery compartment, and main electronics were in very good condition. The paint on the case was in bad condition and the entire unit needed a thorough cleaning.
The case was sanded, primed and repainted with Krylon semi flat, spray paint. A line operated power supply was built and installed in the battery compartment with angle brackets.
Prior to painting, all hardware was removed and cleaned with copper cream, a copper polish.
The reference crystal was broken. The octal crystal holder was disassembled and a new 1.00000 mHz crystal was soldered in place.
The tuning mechanism was smooth but dry of lubrication causing an annoying sound when the spinner was quickly cranked. A few drops of 3-in-1 oil solved that problem.
Toothpaste was used on the window over the calibration book compartment to remove some light scratches in the plastic.
It is missing page 19 and 20 in the calibration book but that does not effect its use a very stable VFO. Well worth the restoration, it is an exceptionally stable VFO and standard.
